Dr. Steven Schoemer

Dr. Schoemer is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in New York, and received his Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York, State College of Optometry.  In 1983, while at Ft. Campbell, KY he held the position of Captain of the US Army, and was an Adjunct Professor in 1986 for Indiana and Southern Colleges of Optometry.  There, Dr. Schoemer was head of the 4th year optometry externship program.  He has been practicing optometry in Springfield since 1987.  Here at Vision Concepts, he specializes in primary care optometry, contact lenses, surgical co-management, and the treatment of ocular injuries and diseases.  He is a current member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Optometric Association, former President of the Robertson County Habitat for Humanity, and is former President of the Springfield Lions Club.  He has also participated in vision mission trips to Haiti.  In his spare time, Dr. Schoemer enjoys bike riding and spending time with his wife.

Dr. Sarah Baldwin

Dr. Baldwin attended Western Kentucky University and completed her undergraduate work in 1999. While at Western, she was a member of the research team in the Neuroscience Laboratory. She participated in a research seminar in molecular neurobiology and was involved in presenting a case study at the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Conference (ARVO). In 2003, Dr. Baldwin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry. She completed externships at LaPointe Health Clinic at Ft. Campbell, KY and Sites Vision Clinic in Clarksville, TN. Here at Vision Concepts, Dr. Baldwin specializes in primary care optometry, contact lenses, surgical co-management, and the treatment of ocular infections and diseases. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and Vision Source. In her spare time, Dr. Baldwin enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Christine SmithChristine Smith

Dr. Christine Smith graduated with honors all four years from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Davis in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. She was trained at the Miami and Palo Alto VA, specializing in ocular disease. She also worked in several community health clinics providing care to underserved populations. She has experience working in specialty clinics, such as binocular vision, pediatrics, refractive surgery, low vision, eyewear, myopia control, ocular disease, primary care, and specialty contact lens fittings. In school, she graduated with highest honors in Beta Sigma Kappa, Optometry’s honors society. With that title, she was able to educate other students and serve as a mentor throughout the four years, teaching them clinical skills and coursework. Today, she greatly enjoys educating students and patients about ocular conditions. Dr. Smith has a strong interest in up-to-date research and continues to become educated in new medical advancements in optometry. Prior to optometry school, Dr. Smith worked as an optician, specializing in selecting frames and lenses specific for each patient’s particular needs. In her spare time, she enjoys doing CrossFit, traveling, and spending time with her husband, son, and dog.
